An old apple tree needs a bit of grooming .. but it has to be done over a couple of years
When it comes to fruit
tree pruning you might think that one season will be enough to bring back a tree from a total mess to a well structured, healthy and fruitful tree but no it
isn’t enough. Most of the time you need to allow few years to reshape such tree.
Tree we have done recently had lots of water sprouts ( suckers ) that haven’t been removed after someone else before did what it seemed to me like a major reduction ..
It had some rubbing, crossing branches and some dead ones..
Decision was to remove suckers, crossing / rubbing branches and some dead ones. No reduction this year as this would have been too much in my opinion.

Mid of January 2019 and we are getting busy – pruning, hedge trimming, garden tidy ups, shrubs and trees removal
This week we are fully booked up – just before a forecasted cold snap expected to hit us very soon, but will it ? 😉
What’s been done and what’s still ahead of us is listed below:
On Wednesday some fruit trees pruned and a big leilandii hedge trimming – DONE

On Thursday medium tree to be pruned, and quite a few medium sized budleia trees uprooted – DONE

On Friday a garden tidy up including another budleia removal and privet hedge reduction – DONE

We asked Paul at Tidy Gardens to undertake a major garden clearance – topping out overgrown trees, taking out and thinning bushes and general ground clearance.
Not only did his team do an outstanding job, but was flexible around timing, offered us great advice and even kept the neighbours happy. We could not recommend him highly enough to others who need either a major makeover like us or regular maintenance.

To my eternal shame I only ever call Paul when my garden has got completely out of control…. This time a major hair cut was required, including lopping trees, trimming shrubs and removal of saplings and rooting out ivy brambles and weeds…A large job completed over several days.- As last time I’m very pleased with the result, and I’d recommend him and his team without reservation.

Paul has done several large jobs for us in the garden over the last year – getting trees out, creating beds, reducing boundary tree height, fence building – and he has always provided an excellent service.
He has proved to be a reliable and hard worker, and has always given us very fair prices.
He’s a nice chap too 🙂

Very efficient and tidy work at a good price.
Paul and his colleague attended within the time stated to fell a tree that was beginning to interfere with my nieighbours house. They even grounded out the stump so the ground was levelled off.
All arisings were cleared away to leave the garden clean and tidy.
Job was done so quickly and well that they also picked up some work from my neighbour too.
