Garden pond area clear up

Garden pond area clear up

Garden in Caversham.

At the back there was a garden pond with lots of plants and wildlife..

Wildlife included a bumblebee hive which caused a bit of trouble and had to be moved.
All that area was just too wild so the idea was to clear it up
Before and after photos below.

Hedge work – Lower Earley

Hedge work – Lower Earley

Front garden in Lower Earley. Cotoneaster along the brick wall taken over by some wild roses, brambles and other thorny foes

Hedge work: Few of cotoneasters had to be removed ( right hand side ), some had been given a chance to survive..

Back garden in the same house.

Another cotoneaster in an awful state. Covered in weeds, brambles etc.. Customers wished for it to be removed and site cleared for a fruit tree.

Another part of this garden has been cleared. Pictures here

Tree reduction – firethorn

Tree reduction – firethorn

Residents complained about that tree which has outgrown its space in this tiny front terraced house garden.
Tree reduction done

Lawn scarification – Mortimer

Lawn scarification – Mortimer

Lawn scarification. Total of 280 m2 of lawn to restore / scarify / fertilize / overseed

Two stripes of turf at the front after they have been damaged by the builders heavy trucks had to be removed, soil added, levelled and reseeded.

You probably wouldn’t believe the amount of moss that scarification pulls out. Have a look at one of the pictures which shows a compost heap which was empty before we started.

This compact moss/debris is really heavy so if you are planning to

scarify yourself then I hope you are a real grafter !
