Clearing and turfing. Another garden makeover.

Clearing and turfing. Another garden makeover.

Another little gardening project in Lower Earley / Reading, which involved clearing and turfing of the back garden.

I tried to shoot some more photos this time, so please have a look and let me know what you think.

This garden has been landscaped before around 2002. Originally it used to be just lawn, then after 2002 it has seen the abundance of various features including some nice ornamental posts, wooden sculptures, water features and a decking which after more than 10 years has fallen apart.
I think every garden needs to have some open space which was missing here..
We have recreated it so hopefully all the grand children will be able to enjoy this garden more..

Garden bamboo screening installation

Garden bamboo screening installation

Old garden bamboo screening has reached it’s end of life.
New slated bamboo screening installed together with new wooden frame to support it.

Before and after photos below:

I don’t take half measures and always try to get the best possible results.
These garden bamboo screening slates were supplied by the customer. Quality of these left a lot to be desired but I think the end result is quite good. What do you think ?

Lawn edging | block paving bricks | turfing

Lawn edging | block paving bricks | turfing

Most of us have lawn in our gardens. Most have some sort of lawn mowing equipment at home as well, but how about lawn edging?

If you are thinking about having a new lawn then think how you are going to maintain it.
Mowing along the edges, fences, deckings etc is not that simple unless you took some care in designing your space.

Think about lawn edging. These can be your friend every time you go out to mow your lawn. Bricks or stones put down flush with the surface of the lawn make mowing a pleasure. You don’t have to strim the edges or do anything else apart from running the mower with one wheel on the edge.

Here’s some pictures of a returfed area together with a newly created lawn edge along the fence made with block paving bricks.

Few photos of another garden that had lawn edging done.

New fence trellis – installation

New fence trellis – installation

If you need a fence trellis to obscure view from/to your neighbours..

Good neighbours are always welcome but sometimes you need that little bit more of privacy. I supplied and installed a fence trellis on top of a brick wall to provide that extra privacy.
Here’s a couple of photos. Before and after.

Materials for this project:

– lattice diamond fence trellis
– 4×2 pieces of timber in required lengths – nicely finished with smooth edges, that will look much better.

For even better finish you might want to cut one side of supporting posts at an angle. ( see the picture )
Obviously drill etc but if you have a similar situation to the one in this garden you might also need a grinder to cut a piece of a slate at the top of wall so that the supporting wood sits flush with the wall.
The rest is pretty obvious.

Do it yourself or give me a call.
