Proud of this quick but so beautifully finished patio pointing job in Reading. We haven’t laid the patio, but were asked to repoint it as whoever did lay it, put just a very weak mortar in joints. However even if that was a stronger mix it wouldn’t solve the issue. Cement / sand mix as a pointing compound is a cheapest option but never a quality one. Mortar cracks and crumbles .. You need a special pointing compound which we used here and use on many other landscaping projects that we do. It is not cheap but long lasting and very effective.
It is not our first job in this garden. In the past we relaid part of the lawn, scarified and reseeded the rest, laid brick edging, created a new flower bed including planting of our choice.
Latest news from Calcot ! Another garden there got a brand new lawn 🙂
What have we done ?
– Stripped old grass destroyed by builders. Yes they know how best to do it. And they don’t even use a weed killer!
– Added 10m3 of compost. Oh yes we love compost so much. A quick whiff of fresh compost works better and longer than any coffee available in the UK 😉
– Rotovated using a perfectly suitable and powerful machine for it.
– Levelled, rolled and laid new turf.
– Watered !
– Broken up concrete, added soil and converted into another small lawn.
– Of course we’ve tidied up as well
Two day job completed with big thank you from a customer. Involved brick edging, levelling and turfing and a small ( 8×6′) shed base construction.
– Around 400 paving blocks laid along the perimeter of the garden. Edging is very useful. See other posts about edging here
– 2.5m by 1.9m concrete shed base built.
– Lawn area levelled and 80m2 of premium turf laid
We left it like that. What do you think of it ? Let us know by writing a comment below.
Are you thinking about how best to present your house ?
but what about the garden ?
Do not forget a well presented, tidy, clean garden can make a huge impact upon your potential buyers.
Believe me it’s not about trying to charm your buyers or you might think cheat them by making the garden look better than it really is. No it is not about this. It is actually about showing your potential buyers the full picture of the garden, the full potential, full size.
I have seen and worked in many gardens. Many of them so overgrown that even it’s owners after we’ve done our work were amazed how big their garden really is ! Don’t make that mistake and book us in to do work in your garden before it goes for sale!
Our first job in 2017 was to tidy up front and back garden of the house that was going for sale very soon.
This time there’s no photos instead just few words left for us as a review of this job. House sale garden tidy up review
September 2020. Professional, good quality work Paul carried out removal of the existing lawn and re-laying new.
He and his colleague turned up on time, carried out the work as agreed. The quality of work and materials was excellent and he kept me informed as to what he was doing, ensuring the work was being done to my satisfaction. After each day and upon completion he tidied up and left the premises clean and tidy. I would not hesitate to recommend his company.

Matt Hard working, friendly and a great job! I’d spent some time trying to get quotes for the removal of a huge blackberry bush and some work on an out of control honeysuckle bush but Pawel was the quickest to reply with a time to come and view and a very reasonable quote.
The job was organised very quickly too and in a few hours the huge amount of work was completed.
Would really recommend.

Fantastic garden make-over We needed both the front and back garden to be made ready for a house sale. Tidy Gardens fulfilled my brief and more, adding extra tidying without being asked. Flower beds were dug over and weeded, and even pots ( with no plants) were cleaned, the AstroTurf swept, shrubs were trimmed and an obsolete tree removed. We couldn’t have asked for a better job and in the rain too. Both gardens look fantastic. Highly, highly recommended.

Fantastic service from Tidy Gardens
The Tidy Gardens/DGL team did a first class landscaping job for us. Edward worked incredibly hard throughout and Paul’s project management, attention to detail and design were really valuable, even when the scope of the project changed part way through.
I highly recommend them and will not hesitate to use them again for other garden projects in future!
Pauline O. Tilehurst, August 2013 Just to confirm that we employed gardener – Paul to do some work for us a while ago. The garden was
quite overgrown and unkempt.
This is to confirm that he was hardworking, did a good tidy job, and worked longer than was arranged in order to get the job done to our satisfaction. Would have no quarms about recommending him to anyone else.

Garden Makeover - March 2017 My garden has resemble a wasteland for several years. Paul and Eddie started work on it early on Monday morning and by Saturday afternoon they had transformed it into a lawn, neatly edged with brick paving, with a flower bed at the rear ready for new plants. They carried on working through terrible weather and left everything clean and tidy when they’d finished.
They are reliable, helpful, hard working and very polite and I can highly recommend them. I have already asked Paul to do more gardeni… Read more

Vacancy Clear Up Hi
I hired Paul to provide an end of tenancy clear up of a back garden. His work and guidance were superb – the garden was transformed and all garden refuse removed. His quote was competitive and he worked hard to complete the job. More than happy to recommend him.

Stef, Twyford, December 2013 Paul did an excellent and speedy garden tidy up! He was punctual, polite and hardworking.

What a transformation! We recently moved into a property where the hedges had been neglected for years, and were massively overgrown. Paul and his colleague cut the hedges right back and shaped them nicely. Removed bramble that had become embedded in the hedges, and ivy that had taken over the garden. We also had a couple of trees removed. This mammoth task was completed in a day, and although the garden looks bare this needed to be done to really open up the space, and will allow fo… Read more
